COVID UPDATES

Hi All,

As I’m sure you all know, the Stay-At-Home order is being lifted and outdoor activities are now being permitted. This is great news as this means things are moving towards us being back on the fields again! I’m sure all of you are just as antsy as I am to get back out there! Although I know you all are figures of health, I still am wary about taking a chance of any of you or anyone in your life getting sick. Therefore, the staff and I are exploring sanitization and social distancing options for when we do begin playing again.

I wanted to reach out with a quick update regarding our outdoor season this year. With our games now being played at Frances Park, we are dependent on their timetable and cannot hold our leagues until the Lansing Parks & Rec department open up the fields. Given that they are just as capable and efficient as Leslie Knope, I know we will be back to playing in no time.

The current plan is for us to have a truncated season in July or August and taking things easy. We’ll get all the teams and players that want to play and hopefully have at least one session this year. There will be some changes to the routine including a new refund policy for unplayed games due to Covid-19. If we end up cancelling games because of spikes or another outbreak, I will issue refunds or credit for the remaining games. Our goal has always been for everyone to have access to the game we all love. Additional changes are being considered and will be announced closer to the season start.

In the meantime, the staff and I will be holding our inaugural GLOS Soccer-Tennis Summer Open Tournament in June to get everyone some touches on the ball at an appropriate distance. We’ll have prizes and good times planned for anyone interested in participating. As always, any and all skill levels are welcome as we just want to make sure everyone has fun and get to hang out with each other safely. Please send me an email or Like us on Facebook/Twitter/Instagram to stay updated on the tournament details.

As always, please do not hesitate to drop me line at any given time if you have questions. Also, please feel free to reach out if you need to commiserate the loss of playing, let me know how great (or awful) the quarantine has been for you, or want to schedule a viewing party (with acceptable social distancing) when La Liga and EPL start back up again. The GLOS staff and I are always here for you.

See you all soon!

Best,
Dean Jong
